HOME CARE ASSOCIATION OF NEW HAMPSHIRE RECOGNIZES

FRONTLINE CAREGIVER

Janet Hackett, LNA of the Year

CONCORD, N.H., June 3, 2010—The Home Care Association of New Hampshire named Janet Hackett, of Farmington, Home Care Nursing Assistant of the Year at the annual New Hampshire Nursing Assistant Day. The event took place on the State House lawn in Concord on June 3.

Hackett and dozens of other licensed nursing assistants (LNA) were recognized for compassionately and selflessly devoting their lives to the care of others, and improving the quality of life for the individuals they care for every day. Governor John Lynch issued a proclamation in honor of the event.

Janet Hackett, an LNA with the Rochester District Visiting Nurse Association (Rochester District VNA) personifies the qualities of loyalty, dedication, and care. Hackett has worked for Rochester District VNA since 1997, providing compassionate, respectful, and quality care to many patients and families. She can handle a variety of patient situations and brings to her job a positive energy that resonates with patients and families. “Janet is affectionately known as the ‘Whistler,’ because as she works she entertains her patients through whistling, bringing a sense of calm and joy. “It is reported by all the love that is felt through her caring efforts to make each day a special day for those who cannot care for themselves,” states Julie Reynolds, clinical director with Rochester District VNA.

“Janet is professional, loyal, fun, and gave my mother loving care,” states Bobbie Glidden, daughter of Sophie Rouillard, a former patient of Janet’s. “What I love most about Janet is how she puts herself in the position of how the patient feels and also takes into consideration the family.”

New Hampshire Nursing Assistant Day is sponsored by the Home Care Association of New Hampshire, New Hampshire Association of Counties/County Nursing Homes, New Hampshire Association of Residential Care Homes, New Hampshire Health Care Association, and New Hampshire Hospital Association. The sponsors solicit nominations from the state’s home care agencies, public and private nursing and residential care facilities, and hospitals, and each association selects one individual as their “LNA of the Year” based on compelling stories of kindness and caring.

Formed in 1974, the Home Care Association of New Hampshire membership includes both not-for-profit and proprietary agencies located in New Hampshire and neighboring states that are licensed to provide home health services in New Hampshire. Member agencies provide services for thousands of New Hampshire residents of all ages who are recovering from surgery, injury or illness, have chronic or terminal illnesses, or other conditions needing support at home. www.homecarenh.org
